Promotion of Concrete Roads

Holcim (Lanka) Ltd promotes concrete paved roads as a long-term solution to the Sri Lankan road network. Being a tropical country, bituminous roads lose it's surface rigidity at a rapid rate specially due to the water content on the surface. As such bituminous roads require frequent maintenance and regular re-surfacing to maintain high quality.

Concrete pavements on the contrary do not require any maintenance for a period of more than 20 years hence a considerable cut in maintenance. Lifecycle costing has proven that concrete paved roads are cost efficient when overall costs are compared.
